According to the teachers perceptions school principals altruistic leadership behaviors

The purpose of this study is to investigate how school principals’ display of altruistic leadership behaviors differ according to seevral demographic variables. The study was conducted as a survey model research with a sample of 378 teachers working in public and private primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in the province of Karabük and its districts in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research data were collected through the Alturistic Leadership Scale developed by Zheltoukhova (2016) and adapted into by Konan and Gedik (2019) for educational organizations. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistical measures (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, standard error, variance, frequency and percentage) and t-test and ANOVA were performed. Results revealed that teachers generally showed a positive preception on the altruistic leadership behaviors of school principals. Indeed, the altruistic leadership behaviors of school principals did not differ significantly in terms of several variable such as gender, age, educational status, school type, number of students at school, number of teachers at school and working time at school while significant differences occured according to school level, branch, physical conditions of the school, socio-economic status of the students, and the region where the school is located. Results of the study were discussed and several suggestions were presented.
