Representation of national identity and idea of independence in Turkish comics

Abstract

Narrative; as a necessary condition of the nation-state, it has functioned as one of the most important elements of the instrumental existence of the efforts towards the construction of national identity, which was seen throughout the world at the end of the 18th century. It has also served the efforts of our republic, and therefore the Turkish nation in this respect. It is seen that comics, as one of the most popular narrative genres of the 20th century, play a role in this context both in the world and in Turkey. In this respect, it is seen that the production of comics is supported by both the public administration and the private affiliate. While it was instrumental in the construction of national identity, it gained a national identity in this process and contributed to cultural, economic and therefore national independence.
