Abstract

It starts with the life activities of the people who produce and consume the wide scopes of culture and art. We have only one world to live on. Industrialization and technology, which started with the industrial revolution and developed, are about to destroy our world with the principle of producing more and consuming more, get richer more. Encouraging the individual to consume more than his basic needs for his daily life rapidly consumes all the natural resources necessary for living and causes environmental problems. As a result of this realization, societies are now in search of a livable world in better conditions that will be left to future generations by meeting in common partnerships above politics. This is what Sustainable Development 2030 (UN) emergency action plans are for. Targets were set under 17 headings such as poverty, hunger, health, education, water, clean energy, climate and responsible production and consumption. In this sense, activities are carried out in many fields and it is aimed to increase awareness on the problems and solutions of the age we live in. Art will do its part in this sense. It is actively involved in raising awareness of the consumer in almost every field that requires design-production-consumption, from fashion to environmental problems, within the scope of works and searches for the sustainability of art. Now is the time to review all our habits. This is achieved through our conscious production and consumption habits. On behalf of the continuity and protection of nature and natural resources, the concept of sustainability should gain its meaning in every field and should be placed within the framework of global common understanding.Art as a friend of sustainable practices and ecological life imposes important missions on artists and designers in this awareness. Reducing wastes to zero, reusing them and making productions from them in the name of art are among the goals of sustainable art. For this reason, the individual and society should act consciously, be environmentally friendly, and avoid all kinds of excesses in the name of consumption.

Keywords: Sustainability; sustainable consumer behaviors; sustainable art; consumption culture.
