The digital transformation of art in the context of feminism An innovative analysis through the work

This article aims to examine the impact of digital technologies on contemporary feminist art at theoretical and practical levels. The study evaluates the development of feminism in art and the relationship between art and technology and male-dominated structures, and discusses the structural inequalities faced by women artists in digital production processes. The expressive possibilities of digital technology are examined through artists such as Orlan, Cindy Sherman, and Claudia Hart, and then the work of Turkish contemporary artist Nurdan Karasu Gökçe is analyzed from a feminist and digital perspective. Karasu Gökçe uses digital tools not only as an element of aesthetic production but also as a tool for political intervention in reconstructing representations of the female body. The artist’s relationship with light, color, and space creates a multilayered, subjectivizing, and critical field of expression against patriarchal visual regimes. In this context, Karasu Gökçe’s artistic practice is positioned in this article as a unique example at both technical and ideological levels. Based on a qualitative research design, the study conducted a literature review, and the artists’ works were evaluated using the iconographic- iconological analysis method (Panofsky). This article offers an innovative contribution to contemporary art research by evaluating the intersection between art, feminism, and digital technology from an interdisciplinary and critical perspective, through the practice of an original artist. In this context, Nurdan Karasu Gökçe’s digital productions are analyzed at formal, symbolic, and conceptual levels, revealing how feminist art is being restructured in the digital age.
