Abstract

Nowadays internet usage increasing every day and caters to a wide audience. It is easier to use and access the Internet from anywhere in the world with the use of high technology and through the development of mobile communications. Especially correct and active use of the Internet can provide an important contribution to education. In this study, the student’s internet usage trends in vocational high school, engineering and social science in different programs were investigated. With this research, Internet usage levels and the contribution of education to students were evaluated with a questionnaire. The research samples are composed of the students of Hacettepe University (HU) Polatlı Vocational School of Technical Sciences (VHS), Geomatics Engineering in Faculty of Engineering and Department of Finance in Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The questionnaire data were evaluated with the relevant software’s and research the validity of the hypothesis tested. It was concluded that the student groups and levels of internet usage trends have differentiation of contributions to education depending on criteria such as; the frequency of internet use, level of knowledge and access to the internet.
