Abstract

Born in Dresden / Germany in 1932, Gerhard Richter is considered one of the most important German artists living today. Following his academic career in 1951/Dresden, the artist has participated in many exhibitions. The exhibitions are spread in many countries such as Germany, United States, Japan and Czech Republic. In this study, a research was done on solo and group exhibitions of the artist. Within the scope of the research, the last period (2010-2017) of the artist was approached in the context of numerical distributions and the exhibitions were examined through geographical regions. At the same time, the exhibition in Prague / Czechia, one of the artist's most recent and most comprehensive retrospective, was visited and the photos / findings were presented in the text. In the first part of the text, the artist and the geography he lived in were discussed. In this section prepared with a biographical style, G. Richter and Germany are approached in the presence of historical anecdotes. The second part is devoted to data and graphics, and events are interpreted with numbers. In the conclusion, findings indicating the continental distribution of exhibition events (solo and group) between 2000 and 2017 were presented and a general assessment has been made. Under the estimation, G. Richter was highlighted as being a European-based artist on the basis of events and it was determined that whether Turkey is incorporated into the artist's action plan.
