Special Issues

Curated thematic collections — proposal mechanics coming soon.

Now planning the proposal pipeline

What Are Special Issues?

Special Issues are focused thematic collections that bring together original research around a timely topic, methodological advance, or interdisciplinary question. Each collection is shaped by a guest editor — a domain expert who defines the scope, invites contributions, and oversees peer review within a dedicated submission window. Accepted articles appear together in a consolidated publication, increasing visibility for both authors and the topic itself. YTUP is currently designing the proposal pipeline — the application form, editorial board approval workflow, and fast-track review track — and will open calls for proposals once that infrastructure is in place.

What to Expect

Proposal Flow

Guest editors submit a structured application: topic rationale, call-for-papers draft, estimated submission volume, and potential reviewer pool. The editorial board reviews applications on a rolling basis.

Scope Curation

Once a proposal is approved, the editorial board works with the guest editor to sharpen the call, define exclusion criteria, and ensure the topic does not overlap with existing issues or concurrent collections.

Production Cycle

Submissions enter a dedicated window with a shared peer-review timeline. Accepted articles are held for consolidated publication, giving the collection a coherent release date and shared citation context.

Be the First to Know

If you have a topic in mind and want to be notified when the proposal portal opens — or if you would like to discuss a concept informally before then — send a brief message to the editorial office. Early inquiries help us calibrate which topic areas to prioritize in the first call.
